Horizon Network staff are ready to respond to any power outages with the remnants of Cyclone Cody due over the Eastern Bay of Plenty on Sunday night. 15 Extra faults, emergency field crews, vegetation management and operations management staff have been rostered on in the event of the storm looking like it may track over the region. We will be working closely with local roading contractors, the District and Regional councils to remove any vegetation related faults.
All our staff are fully vaccinated and will be operating under the company’s Covid Protection Framework.
If you see any damaged power equipment or power lines down, please keep a safe distance away and report it to us as soon as possible on 0800 HORIZON or 07 306 29600. We ask that everyone treat all lines as live, at all times.
Please make sure you secure outdoor items such as outdoor furniture and trampolines.
Having an emergency kit ready can help you get through any bad weather. Your storm kit should include medications, a torch, portable radio, spare batteries, and a first-aid kit.
As the storm draws closer, close doors and windows and bring pets inside.
Storms often pass quickly, and it can be tempting to watch the action but it’s best to stay away from windows in case of flying debris. Instead, monitor the radio or internet for local weather updates.
